Mayor of Sparks, one of the fastest growing cities of Nevada (USA), has “proclaimed”
Geno R. Martini, Sparks Mayor, today handed over the proclamation to Zed, which read: “religious statesman Rajan Zed has brought honor to the State of Nevada through his various worldwide initiatives and extraordinary efforts to reach others of different traditions and beliefs.”
Issued under the Seal of the City of Sparks, it further proclaimed: “Rajan Zed has entered into dialog with leaders of various religions and denominations within and outside the United States to explore similarities and cooperate in common causes such as peace, ecological responsibility, and social and human development.”
Signed by Mayor Martini and City Clerk Linda K. Patterson, it added: “Rajan Zed organizes and participates in various interfaith activities in Nevada with clergy of various religions and denominations to bring communities together.”
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, is one of the panelists for “On Faith”, a prestigious interactive conversation on religion produced jointly by Newsweek and washingtonpost.com. He has been awarded “World Interfaith Leader Award” by National Association of Interchurch and Interfaith Families.
