In my years as a mortgage banker, I have seen one common theme among many new Real Estate Professionals. That is this: when you first entered the real estate industry, you probably did not have a firm grasp on what it was really going to take in order to be successful. After all, when the market was great a few years ago, all you needed to do was stick a sign in the yard and you could sell a home. Now things have changed and things are much more of a challenge. However, over the years there is one thing that has not changed. You still have to get your name and your face in front of people over and over again. This type of "branding" if you will has always produced results and probably always will. So what is the best way to do it? You still may need to walk the neighborhood, but how often can you really expect to do that? Three times per month? Four times? Even just that can be quite the stretch. You probably have a website but how do you effectively get people to go to it without spending thousands of dollars on Search Engine Optimization or Pay-per-Click links? It's the age old question for Realtors... How do you keep them thinking about you when you are not around?
Online marketing for Realtors isn't a new thing. Plenty of people have done it. But you would probably be shocked to find out how many new and innovative marketing strategies are out there that you have never heard of. In fact, unless you are networking with online marketing experts, there is a good chance that some of the most effective methods may never come your way. Here's the cold hard truth, most newly self-employed people from any industry have no idea of how to effectively market themselves and their business. Now to be fair, it isn't their fault, as most of this is not taught in school and weekend seminars are not only expensive, but memory retention is extremely low. And last but certainly not least, what if that application paid you whenever someone uses it, even if they never bought or sold a house with you? That's correct, you could get paid even if people never used your services. Wouldn't you at least want to know about this software application?
Here's the bottom line... You can improve your marketing, improve your business, and improve your lifestyle simply by associating with the right people who have the right information. I would highly recommend that you consider joining a mentoring program that can teach you online marketing skills that are not only beneficial for Realtors, but also for any other venture or business that you might consider down the road.
