Breaking into the publishing world can be hard enough. Breaking into the foreign publishing market can be even more difficult. However, for Manassas, VA-based small press, EDGE Publishing Company, that is one task that can be checked off the "to-do" list. EDGE Publishing Company is proud to announce that the company has signed an agreement with Minnesota-based CA Link, a literary agency that promotes books specifically to the Asian market.
EDGE Publishing Company, through the direction of President Phillip Vera, specializes in working with first-time authors who are looking for a way to cut through the bureaucratic red-tape and "hoop jumping" of the publishing industry. However, Vera was intent on expanding into a much more broad market.
"I have experience in the publishing industry and I know how to work and market to English-speaking readers and consumers. However, I knew we were missing out on a big group of potential readers with our books and it was fantastic when CA Link and EDGE started talking," stated Vera.
CA Link works specifically to prepare book proposals for books written in English and published through American-based publishers. When they are presented with an English-language manuscript, the agency translates and presents a sample for Chinese-based publishers. If a manuscript is accepted, it has the ability to not only be read by over a billion readers in the Chinese market, but also by readers throughout Asia, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
"We originally were introduced to CA Link by an author who had just come on board with EDGE. CA Link had a big interest in EDGE author and horror-novelist, C.A. Milson and it was through that relationship that EDGE started talking in more depth about an ongoing relationship with the literary agency," stated Vera.
EDGE Publishing Company has a series of titles they have presented to CA Link, including, "Feather Merchant" by Bill Greenwell, "The Chosen: Rise of the Darkness" by C.A. Milson, "Soon" and "Slingshot" by Marc Douglas, and "Accepting Apples," a children's book by Gretchen Ehle Zimmer.
