Control Products Provides Real World Feedback to University Students

Control Products, Inc., is a trusted leader in electronic control technology and global manufacturing.  We believe in active and continuous community involvement and as a result support a variety of distinctive projects.  One recent project involved providing real world feedback to a group of university students working on an operations analysis project.  The students attend the University of St. Thomas, a local university, and are enrolled in the School of Business.

This project involved various members of Control Products manufacturing team describing to the students, in great detail, all elements of our manufacturing processes.  Specifically “lean manufacturing” concepts were discussed.  Many examples of before and after process improvements were discussed.  Actual costs including reductions in labor, materials and lead times were shared with the students.  They expressed their appreciation for collaborating with Control Products. The students indicated that they gained a deeper understanding of the manufacturing process, were able to connect theoretical concepts with real world constraints, and as a result added credibility to their final report.  According to Simon Barham, Director of Operations, “assisting students at every level is a real pleasure.  We benefit by supporting students who one day may be Control Products associates, participating in the give and take of cutting edge ideas and refreshing and challenging our knowledge breaking down complex  procedures so that hey can be easily understood and discussed.”
