Café Fluid is a convergence of global sounds featuring celebrated musicians including L.A cellist, Matt Cooper, Chennai veena player Rajesh Vaidya along with stalwarts Louis Banks, Selva Ganesh, Sanjay Divecha and Keith Peters.
Colleague and friend, A.R Rahman says, "Naveen's exceptional talent and prowess as a musician has always impressed me. When I travel globally, people often listen to my compositions and ask who the flute player is because the quality of his performance is so superlative that it leaves them zapped."
"This new album is yet just like scratching the surface and I sincerely want that music lovers worldwide get more of him." adds Rahman.
"All the tracks in this album have been created with a different approach, unlike most flute themes; the tracks in Café Fluid are up-tempo yet soulful. The inspiration for this album comes from the tones of life itself, where anything takes on a sudden importance in a special situation. And that is what continually draws me to create music" States Kumar.
For the album, Naveen enlisted the help of Reeg Deb, a brilliant music programmer. There are nine tracks on the album as well as two bonus tracks. The tracks include Ullienn Pipes Song, a song about a caterpillar growing out into a butterfly, Sindbad vs. Kerala featuring a veena and key flute melody and Indofusion. Christy Samuels has been credited with arrangement on two songs and drum legend, Dennis Chambers features on the track Bombay Doves. The album culminates into being dynamic, emotional and with the use of Bansuri, Indian classical blended with western music, it is truly fluid.
The album will be available in stores nationally from today and is priced at Rs.245.
