For many years Lee Olsen, a Salt Lake City based psychotherapist has been helping people take control of their emotions through a simple exercise to reflect on how they are currently feeling and what has happened to give them that feeling.

This exercise is The Red Dot Now.

Recently, Mr. Olsen began working with an iPhone developer to transform the exercise into an iPhone application that helps simplify the exercise even more by using your iPhone or iPod touch.

The application creates a reminder for the user to stop and take a moment to reflect how how they are current feeling.  Once they are clear on how they are currently feeling the application then takes them through a series of interactions to help identify why they are feeling the way they do.  Finally it then walks them through an exercise to re-center themselves.

Mr. Olsen will be releasing a video describing the application and how it works in a video on his website on May 1st.

You can check out the video on the website here:

The application will be release later this summer.

In his practice Lee observes that people spend a great deal of time thinking about their past or their future causing emotional pain, depression, anxiety, worry and suffering.  Over 10 years ago Lee developed a powerful tool called the “Red Dot Now” to assist a client to see their thinking errors and move to thinking and living in the present or in the words of Eckhart Tolle “living in the now”.

By getting into “real time or present moment” the “Red Dot Now” can pull a person out of auto pilot life and move them into living life more fully and consciously.  This in turn means a life and relationships that are more peaceful and less dramatic.  Lee is cognitive behavioral and solution focused in his therapeutic model, incorporating other therapeutic modalities specific to the individual client.

About Lee Olsen, LCSW
Salt Lake City Psychotherapist

"I am a solution focused cognitive behavioral therapist. My practice philosophy is based on the premise that your history is important to how you got here, now how do you manage or cope with what exists. In our work together we will look at history and present, cause and effect, and then work to create understanding and objectivity, find the triggers that set you off, redirect thinking errors and create new coping skills to enhance resilience.
I use effective proven clinical techniques that get results and don't require you to be in therapy for years. In today's economic environment with insurance defining care and often times giving you limited visits, my goal is to create tools to effectively enhance quality of life.

I am holistic in my practice so we address the whole person, all aspects of the current emotional state and how to shift."
