Land lubbers and seafarers alike are invited to the come aboard the HMS Bounty and relive the days of pirates and great sailing ships April 30-May 2 at the Yonkers Pier at the foot of Main Street.

The Yonkers Downtown Waterfront Business Improvement District is bringing this replica of the famous sailing ship to Yonkers. The public is invited to tour the ship from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. April 30, May 1 and May 2. Tours are $10.

Steve Sansone, Yonkers BID Executive Director, urged everyone to come down to the pier and see the ship and spend the day at the Yonkers Riverfront.

“It’s a magnificent ship and we are really fortunate to have it stopping here in Yonkers. We hope everyone will come down to the pier and make a day of it,’’ he said.

Built in 1960 by MGM studios for the film Mutiny on the Bounty featuring Marlon Brando, the HMS Bounty is a replica of the infamous ship where the bloody mutiny took place 200 years ago. The ship has appeared in other Hollywood features including Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man's Chest.

It is now owned by Foundation by HMS Bounty Organization LLC, which is dedicated to preserving the fine art of square-rigged sailing.

In honor of the ship’s docking for three days in Yonkers, The Yonkers Downtown Waterfront BID and the Yonkers Riverfront Library will also be sponsoring an HMS Bounty inspired double feature at the Yonkers Riverfront Library: Sponge Bob Square Pants, The Movie at 4 p.m. and Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest at 6 p.m.  Admission is free.
The Yonkers Riverfront Library is at 1 Larkin Center, Yonkers.
