Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter and PASS(Parsippany Animal Supporters Society) joined forces with the veterinary staff of the Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees on Monday, April 26, 2010 to reduce the number of homeless animals in our community and to help ensure that every pet has a family that loves them.
54 felines arrived at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter by 9:00 am that day and were altered and vaccinated at low or no cost to their owners and caretakers. Funds raised by volunteers helped to supplement the cost of the clinic and make this lifesaving procedure available to those that may not have been previously able to afford it.
Spaying or neutering also helps dogs and cats lead healthier lives by reducing their risk for certain diseases and helps keep adopted pets in their homes by reducing undesirable behaviors such as spraying and marking. To help stop overpopulation further and make a difference in the number of animals euthanized in area shelters each year, please be sure your own pets are spayed or neutered and consider adopting your next pet instead of purchasing one from a breeder or pet shop.
