The Wishcraft workshop in Chicago is offering multiple summer camps between June 14th, 2010 and September 3rd, 2010 in which traditional sewing skills are taught in a funordinary way.
Wishcraft has created an entirely new approach to teaching sewing and other traditional skills, making them fun for today’s child while fostering self-esteem. Inventive projects are designed for ready-success and skills are taught within the context of relevant projects with a no-judgment philosophy, making learning faster and more fun. Camps offered for the summer of 2010 include Project Wishcraft, a bootcamp for budding fashion designers in which campers design and construct clothing while learning sewing and design basics, as well as Project Wishcraft Masters for blossoming fashion designers with a little more experience to expand their design, sewing and pattern-reading skills. Both camps culminate with a fashion-show at the workshop for family and friends. As one camper put it, "sewing miracles happen here" and a parent raves, "best. summer camp. ever." The schedule currently includes 5 sessions of sewing camp, and additional weeks may be added upon request. Complete descriptions, schedules and pricing are located at http://web.me.com/
