Follow on Google News | Executives Swim, Bike & Run12 entrepreneurs and corporate executives will soon be heading to Louisville, KY to compete in the IM Exec Challenge at Ironman Louisville. On August 29, 2010, they will be vying for one of the coveted slots at the World Championships in Kona, HA.
By: John Barrett Executive John C. Barrett will be raising the bar even higher—he will be competing to help those who cannot help themselves. The local triathlete will swim, cycle, and run a total of 140.6 miles to benefit Pathways To Care (PTC), a unique medical respite center for Central Florida's homeless and very poor. Since 2003, the facility has provided healthcare, housing and hope to the area's most vulnerable men and women who are healing after an acute injury, illness, or hospitalization. "It's so important to help people get on their feet," said Barrett, an executive for Med-Advantage , an Orlando-based credentials verifications company.. Barrett has set up a website (www.HelpPTC.org) "My goal is to raise $25,000," said Barrett. "That's only 175 people at just $1 per mile." To earn these pledges, Barrett will swim 2.4 miles in the Ohio River, bike 112 miles through the hills of the Louisville, Home of the Kentucky Derby, and will run a full 26.2-mile marathon in and around the city.
