The latest version, Magicsoft CG 4.2, features a number of enhancements including the ability to bring a live video stream into standard definition CG output simply by adding a second Blackmagic card. The live video input appears as a picture picture (PIP) window which is output using either the internal or external key of the video card. Magicsoft CG 4.2 also adds the ability to select the desired DeckLink output card (when more than one is installed ), linking objects by position ( an item will follow the designated "parent item" ), linking objects by size ( an item will automatically scale in order to match the size of "parent item" ), rectangles with rounded corners, Scalable 2D Text, support for ATI and INTEL GPUs, improved color selection, graphical interface improvements, anti-flicker for images and live video, de-interlacing of live video and LiveManager, a built in option to schedule the actions for projects. Magicsoft CG 4.2 is used by large and small commercial and non-profit television stations throughout the the world. It is a particularly attractive application not only because it deals with both 2D and 3D characters but because it does not rely on multiple CPUs for rendering. Rendering for both Preview and OnAir is done by the graphic card's GPU so powerful workstations or multiple CPUs are not required. Magicsoft CG graphics are 24 bit (TrueColor) with an 8 bit alpha channel (256 transparency levels.) Anti-aliasing is supported for TrueType Fonts as well as Anisotropic Filtering for images. Objects can be animated by moving, rotating and changing color. Objects also can be moved on a Z-axis eliminating the limitations of layer oriented programs.. Magicsoft CG comes in two versions, SD and HD. The SD version can be upgraded to HD later on. Both versions can handle simultaneous previewing, creating, displaying and controlling of projects for logos, tickers, crawls, image sequences, analog and digital clocks and playback of AVI DV clips. Live video acquisition is supported only in SD for the current time. MagicSoftCG 4.2 works exclusively using Blackmagic Design's Decklink Studio (SD) or HD Extreme (SD and HD) video cards. Out put can be analog or digital, and the keying can be either internal or external. “Magicsoft CG has become a strong player in the CG market because it offers so much value.
