Cancer Gifts that are Useful are More Meaningful than Flowers

Just the word, cancer, strikes fear in all of us. Everyday somebody gets the "news" and life changes. The best gift of course is just being there, but what if you can't? Then send a gift—but one that actually helps. Call CAREBOX.

Arm Yourself - A Useful Cancer Gift
April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Cancer touches all of us—everyday, and it seems to be getting closer and closer to home base. We all have our daily lives and routines, jobs to get to, social events, dentist appointments and the annual exam. It's what we ALL do. However, we never expect our doctor to call us back and say, "we might have a problem, please come back for more tests."  That's just not in the program.

At first we might just brush it off and think nothing of it, but when it gets more and more serious after each test, panic sets in. The truth is, everybody panics. What are the words to say when a loved one starts down this path? There are are no words. There is just the next appointment when something might be different. Life becomes a series of appointments.  The calendar suddenly gets filled with doctor visits and test after test.  Birthday parties and social events are suddenly not part the program anymore.

For anybody who has gotten this news for themselves, it's bad enough.  But it is amazing how friends scatter. It's just too scary for people to be around—and that's the worst part, not being around "your" people anymore. And if you are one of people who has a loved one being touched by cancer, what can you do to help? What if you can't drive to all the appointments? What if you just can't be there?

Well, there is always the phone. That's a start. But what if you have no words? Then send a gift—but make it count. Flowers are nice, but, they die quickly, and are often a bit of a problem...where does one put a bunch of flowers? Answer:  to the person in the next room.

Here are some problems people have when they have cancer and need chemo: dry mouth.  It's a boring gift, but it will be appreciated—buy  Biotene. For nausea: ginger. For Sleeping problems: Lavender. Consider the on-line store:  CAREBOX  (www.carebox.com), they have many unconventional gifts that are VERY useful.

After the founder lost BOTH parents to lung cancer, she learned a thing or two about what helped along the way, and created a series of comforting gifts that soothe, calm or relax somebody going through a serious illness. Gifts like Arm Yourself (http://www.carebox.com/index.php/gift-cold-relief-flu-hea...) includes items for nursing a cold, like a neti-pot, tea and honey and inhaler.  Nausea, NOT! (http://www.carebox.com/index.php/gift-nausea-cancer-ginge...) is a gift box about natural nausea cures, including ginger and psi-bands.

Real problems deserve real gifts—gifts that can be used during the journey.

And if none of the on-line gifts hit the mark, CAREBOX offers FREE consulting—a real person guiding the way—and that's something new, or is it old, but forgotten? Either way, if you need an idea, call 650-688-2007 for gift advice.

There will be a cure one day for cancer, but it isn't here today. CAREBOX is trying to change that too by donating a portion of the profits towards an early detection blood test.
