Intensive Training in African & Caribbean Dance for Experienced Dancers with IRIE!’s Making Tracks

IRIE! dance theatre presents its third "Making Tracks" intensive Summer School in African & Caribbean for professional dancers wit h an exclusive lineup of tutors.
 
April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- IRIE! dance theatre will be hosting an intensive two-day training program in African & Caribbean from 18-19 June 2010.  IRIE! has dubbed this program Making Tracks and this is the program’s third year.

The company has recruited a special line-up of artists to deliver the training on this programe:

~ Thea Nerissa Barnes,
~ Charles Maema,
~ Coral Messam, and
~ Paradigmz.

Thea Nerissa Barnes had a distingushed performing career with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and Martha Graham Dance Company.  She’s currently the Resident Dance Supervisor for The Lion King which is currently at The Lyceum Theatre in London's West End.

Charles Maema began his dance career teaching African, Creative, Contemporary and Edu- dance in South Africa.  He currently  lectures in dance for Kingston University and for the Dance Foundation degree program which is delivered by IRIE! dance theatre in partnership with City & Islington College and London Metropolitan University.

Coral Messam has a multifaceted background in traditional African & Caribbean dance forms that is deeply influenced by her training in contemporary dance.  In addition to working in dance she also does television and theatrical work.

Paradigmz is also an artist who is more than just a dancer.  He’s also an actor, rapper, writer, poet, and choreographer.  He now runs his own dance theatre company called LDDT - London Diaspora Dance Theatre.

IRIE! Dance theatre’s African & Caribbean Dance Intensive is designed help professional dancers improve their skills in African and Caribbean dance while exposing them to new ways of working with these dance forms.  It’s also designed to help artists improve their choreographic skills.
