A well respected Executive Search professional sees positive signs that the local Las Vegas employment market is poised for an upswing over the next twelve months.
Mr. Bill Dunch, President of Vegas Career Connection said, “Despite being one of the hardest hit areas in the nation, Las Vegas is beginning to turn the corner. I expect the job market to show continued improvement over upcoming months.”
Internal career placement data from Vegas Career Connection suggests a positive trend.
Mr. Dunch noted that, “Vegas Career Connection has experienced an 18% increase in the number of clients who were successfully placed with a new employer as compared to the same period last year. The first hundred days of 2010 have been very promising.”
Mr. Dunch’s views are supported by others familiar with the Nevada economy. The Las Vegas Review Journal recently reported that Nevada's economy could be emerging from tough times. Visitor volume, gaming revenue and traffic along Interstate 15 have all trended upward in recent months, which is an encouraging sign.
Experts believe that “the worst is behind us” and point to the fact that “hotels are fuller than they were six months ago, and gaming tables are busier than they were six months ago”.
Vegas Career Connection’s own numbers corroborate this. They indicate that the Nevada job market is ready to take a turn for the better. Mr. Dunch believes, “It’s a good time for job seekers who may have stopped looking to dust off their resumes and get back in the hunt.”
