Doris Bloodsworth Honored as Writer of the Year

The Lake County Historical Society named author Doris Bloodsworth Writer of the Year at the group's annual banquet on April 23. Bloodsworth is the author of Images of America: Groveland and the upcoming Images of America: Clermont.
 
April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Pulitzer-nominated writer Doris Bloodsworth was named the 2010 Writer of the Year by the Lake County Historical Society at its annual banquet on April 23 in Tavares, Fla.

Bloodsworth, an award-winning journalist who founded Crosswords Communications Co., a marketing and public relations firm, is the author of Images of America: Groveland and the upcoming Images of America: Clermont. Both pictorial histories are published by Arcadia Publishing Co.

Bloodsworth is a graduate of the University of Florida where she graduated with highest honors. While there, she won numerous awards for reporting and ethics. She was a national finalist for the Hearst Award.

After graduation Bloodsworth went on to have a stellar journalism career in which she was nominated for the Pulitzer and was a Knight Fellow. She formerly reported for the Wall Street Journal and has written for several magazines, including Florida magazine and Lake magazine. She currently helps cover Florida's federal courts for Bloomberg News.

In addition to founding Crosswords Communications Co., which offers writing, editing and strategic communications services, Bloodsworth also helped found the Groveland Historical Museum to fulfill the dying wish of a high school friend.

Bloodsworth received her Writer of the Year Award from Howard King, secretary of the Lake County Historical Society.
