April 27, 2010 - PRLog -- Hiking guide author John Soares has redesigned his Northern California Hiking Trails website to make it more useful to hikers who want to find great places to hike and also to connect with other hikers on the Internet.

“The most active part of the site has been the blog,” Soares said. “I’ve always used Wordpress for the blog, but I just installed Thesis and then redesigned much of the site using Thesis.”

The site has a cleaner look, and it’s much easier to navigate the different pages and posts, and also to find information on hiking and trails using categories, tags, and the search function.

The site is at http://www.northerncaliforniahikingtrails.com/blog

Soares uses the blog to highlight his own outdoors adventures. He also covers news events relevant to trail use and hiker safety, and he directs readers to interesting posts on other blogs and websites.

Soares is the co-author (with brother Marc Soares) of 100 Classic Hikes in Northern California, third edition, and he’s the author of 75 Hikes in California’s Mount Shasta and Lassen Volcanic National Park Regions, revised edition. He’s hiked in all parts of northern California, both for his books and for his own pleasure.

Soares is also a member of the board of directors of the Mount Shasta Trail Association.
