April 27, 2010 - PRLog -- The Old Schoolhouse Gallery in San Antonito is celebrating a lifetime of work by local artist Hugh O. Pierson. Hugh dug through a Tuff-shed full of work to come up with some treasures that no one, including the artist, had seen for some time, such as an impressive painting of the Santuaro de Chimayo, and several large abstract works.

Though originally from France, Hugh has lived in New Mexico for half a century and considers himself “an old-timer.” Much of his artwork reflects his love of the landscape and the architecture of the West. Hugh’s work also showcases his extensive travels, featuring Tuscan villas, small farms in Ecuador, the Church of Las Monjas in San Miguel de Allende, and a canal in Amsterdam.

Hugh is also an amazing sculptor and the gallery will display several of his large outdoor pieces. And for the first time, the gallery is proud to offer affordable giclée prints of some of Hugh’s best work.

Hugh Pierson isn’t the only reason to visit the gallery—other favorites like Susan Finch will have new work on display. The gallery offers a wide selection of jewelry, sculpture, prints, and original art in all price ranges.

Join The Old Schoolhouse Gallery Friday, May 21 from 5pm to 8pm, for the Hugh Pierson opening, and enjoy refreshments along with great art.

The Old Schoolhouse Gallery is located on the scenic Turquoise Trail at 12504 Highway N 14, approximately a quarter mile north of Frost Road. Regular gallery hours are from 10 am to 6 pm Tuesday through Sunday. The gallery is closed Monday.
