Long Beach Island Region of the Jersey Shore declares June 2010 Art & Leisure Month

Starting the season with a sensation; film, fine art and fresh seafood brings connoisseurs to our shores.

 
PRLog - Apr. 27, 2010 - SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. -- Last year the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce introduced Art & Leisure Weekend with festivals and a restaurant preview. Thousands of new visitors came for the Jersey Shore Fine Arts Festival, Jazzy Scallop Festival and other activities that celebrated the start of summer. Experience the Jersey Shore in a whole new way when you visit LBI during the month of June and take part in world class festivals that will start your summer off in style.
June 4-6 Lighthouse International Film Festival celebrates it’s sec¬ond year bringing filmmakers, lovers and crit¬ics to screen award winning independent films. With almost 2,000 attendees last summer, this film festival offered dozens of films as well as director and producer talk backs, after parties and meet and greets; allowing insight to the film making process like no other festival can offer. Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce will once again serve as headquarters for the festival offering weekend or daily passes for sale.
June 12-13 Long Beach Island is the perfect canvas for the Jersey Shore Fine Art Festival, which brings the only national art show to the Jersey Shore this summer. Featuring world class artists from throughout the country, patrons have the opportunity to not only view the art but meet the artist. Every medium is represented from the most delicate of jewelry to the boldest sculpture, color sharp photography, fresh watercolors and rich oil paintings, as well as truly unique interpretations in glass, metal and stone. This is free, pet friendly event has been ranked a top 100 show in the coun¬try and is sponsored by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. It is located at the gateway of Long Beach Island at Ethel Jacobson Field in Ship Bottom with plenty of free parking.
June 19 Does Dad like Seafood? If so spend Father’s Day Weekend with us and sample the freshest on the Jersey Shore. Spend your day at the Tuckerton Seaport Bay men’s Seafood and Music Festival while hearing the best in blues and classic live entertainment while feasting on fresh crab cakes, homemade chowders, seafood platters and shrimp cocktails. Tour the 40 acre site and learn about the coastal heritage of the New Jersey, as well as strolling through the vendor marketplace picking up seafood related items and handmade gifts. While the day winds down, the joint be¬gins to jump over in historic Viking Village in Barnegat Light with the Jazzy Scallop Festival, your ticket offers sampling of top of the catch scallops caught fresh that day prepared by local chefs in a variety of ways all to the sweet sounds of jazz musicians.
