San Francisco, CA – April 24, 2010 – Making its first move to bring high-caliber tournaments to California, the California Pool Players Tour [CPPT] will host its first such one in Mountain View at the California Billiard Club on June 12th and 13th at 10 am. Total prize money up for grabs is expected to loom at $8,500.00, with first place probably taking home $2,500.00.
The competition will be unusual and exciting because it is the only non-handicapped tournament of its kind in California. The format will be a race to 7, double elimination. Players will be divided into two brackets, one for Pros and A players, one for B and C players and is open to both women and men. The tournament will give amateurs the rare opportunity to play beside professional players the CPPT expects will compete.
Entry fees will be based on skill level, dependent upon such factors as known ability, self-ranking and past tournament performance and are as follows:
• Professional:
• A Players: $75
• B/C Players: $50
To enter, one must join the CPPT for $50 for the first year, $25 per year thereafter, and can then play in any tournament desired.
“We think it’s time California stepped up pool playing a notch in order to match tournament play in other states,” says Vincent Bramwell, president of the CPPT. “We’re hoping to attract top caliber players to inspire and motivate everyone to improve their game.”
Visitors are welcome to come and watch the tournament – and are encouraged to do so.
The California Billiard Club is located at 881 E. El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA, 94040. Its phone number is 650.965.3100.
