April 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Longmont Machining joins the leading edge of companies helping the USA get back on her feet and regain her competitive manufacturing advantage.
Longmont Machining has been in operation over 25 years.  When the new owners, Gary and Tim, bought the company in 2008, their intentions were to grow the business and expand capabilities.  Their business plan was to put Longmont Machining on the map as THE machine shop along the front-range of Colorado.  They knew this was a multi-year plan, but one that could be achieved by hiring the best available people, upgrading the equipment, attention to detail, and expanding services.
The new owners quickly realized they needed the right help to begin implementing their plan.  They immediately set forth hiring two key positions – a seasoned Controller with rapid growth experience, and an equally impressive Operations Director.  Both of these people used their experience to develop a plan to begin controlling the cash flow while optimizing production.
The initial months were spent implementing basic operational guidelines, and responding to existing customer inquiries.  The mission at this stage was simple but important – let existing customers know the shop was under new ownership.  The management team let them know their business was important, and they were doing everything possible to quickly improve quality, on-time delivery, and customer service.
These were long days – fighting fires and working around the clock to meet deadlines.  Not just meeting the delivery date, but meeting it AND delivering quality parts.  Two things that are now taken for granted.  The production operators were briefed on the importance of producing quality parts and meeting delivery dates.
In the middle of this rebuilding, the bottom fell-out of the economy, leaving Tim and Gary in a fight for their economic lives.  Pay cuts were implemented across the board, and sales engineers were hired with a single mission:  bring in new business and expand their customer base.  NOW.
The Longmont Machining mission is important – not just to Tim and Gary and the staff, but to America.  There are thousands of machine shops and small businesses across the country in similar situations.  The difference with Longmont Machining are the people.  People with a can-do attitude, a sense of purpose, and creative minds focused on making a better part quicker, faster, and more superior than anyone else.  Rather than play the lowest-price game, they are creating their own game with their rules – they will lead manufacturing through creativity, innovation, and good ol’ Yankee Ingenuity.
Everyone in America wants to support our friends, neighbors, and local businesses.  This is especially true now, while America recovers from the world-wide recession.  The old rules of business no longer apply.  The new rules are based on integrity, innovation, and getting a great part at a fair price.
Everyone is getting tired of reading about the large U.S. corporations outsourcing their manufacturing to China.  We all want a lower price, but we still expect the same quality that we have grown accustomed to.  We are accustomed to this high quality and low price thanks to America’s work and progress in design and manufacturing.  What we are tired of; is paying our hard earned money for a product that is defective, dangerous, and insulting to the American people.
Join Longmont Machining in leading the rebuilding of America.  Help them help you.  Help them strengthen America.  By pulling together we all play a part in rebuilding America and reclaiming our worldwide manufacturing lead.  Support your local small company, your state, and America.
