DALLAS – Kevin Alewine, director of renewable energy services for Shermco Industries, will present the “Statistical Study of Failure Modes in Wind Turbine Generators” at Windpower 2010, hosted by the American Wind Energy Association.
The study identifies the most common failure modes of wind turbine generators and provides failure frequency analysis. Study discussion will include suggestions for improving reliability by proper installation and maintenance.
Alewine, a 30-year veteran of electrical insulation system evaluation and specification, co-authored the study with William Chen, an advanced insulation system engineer at TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company.
“Our study is based on data from nearly two gigawatts of repaired, refurbished or remanufactured wind turbine generators,”
Alewine’s presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.
