April 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Miami’s cultural, business and government leaders will honor the private sector’s impact on South Florida’s cultural vitality at the Miami Art Museum Corporate Luncheon on Friday, May 7, 2010. Northern Trust Corporation, a leading provider of investment management, asset and fund administration, fiduciary and banking solutions for corporations, institutions and affluent individuals worldwide, will receive the 2010 Miami Art Museum Corporate Honors for its major impact and support of South Florida’s cultural institutions. For the first time, a Special Recognition Award will be presented, recognizing Shutts & Bowen LLP for outstanding service to Miami Art Museum (MAM). The luncheon will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami, 1435 Brickell Avenue, Miami, FL 33131, from 11:30am until 2pm. All event proceeds support Miami Art Museum’s education and public programs. Miami Art Museum is Miami-Dade County’s largest provider of arts education, outside the Miami-Dade County Public School System.

“Without corporate support, Miami would not have the thriving cultural community we are so fortunate to enjoy today,” said Aaron Podhurst, chairman of MAM’s board of trustees. “This luncheon is an opportunity to recognize and thank these corporate partners, whose contributions enable Miami’s cultural institutions to provide vital public programming, enriching the lives of the entire community.”

Ambassador Paul L. Cejas, MAM trustee and CEO of PLC Investments, will serve as honorary chairman, and MAM Trustee Rafael Miyar and Pedro A. Fernandez, principal of Bernstein Global Wealth Management, will serve as luncheon chairmen. The keynote speaker will be John Wetenhall, Ph.D., M.B.A, a nationally-known museum management expert and current MAM interim director.  Wetenhall’s address, titled “Museums for the Future – Now,” will discuss how museums are handling the current financial crisis and will look ahead to how Miami may be positioned to lead the next generation of cultural institutions. Wetenhall belongs to the Association of Art Museum Directors and serves on the boards of the American Association of Museums and the U.S. National Committee of the International Council of Museums.
