April 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Still considered a newcomer in the wipes category, Little Busy Bodies, Inc., the creators of the first saline nose wipe, Boogie Wipes, broke the IRI (Interaction Research Institute ) top ten list in the moist towelette category their second year in business. The business was founded in 2007 by two Oregon moms looking for a way to get their kids to blow their noses. Chain Drug Review just announced that the mompreneurs, Julie Pickens (CEO) and Mindee Doney (CMO), saw a 734% growth rate last year and now compete with giants like Kleenex, Cottonelle and Huggies.

Little Busy Bodies now operates with 15 employees out of Beaverton, Oregon and offers 11 saline nose wipe products to 50,000 retail stores across the US and Canada including Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Sam’s Club, Costco and Toys”R”Us. Their team will debut its newest product, Achooz, a saline nose wipe aimed at adults, this spring. Walgreens has already taken it in for a nationwide rollout in 6,000 stores this fall.

“Little Busy Bodies continues to be innovative in many areas of our market,” said CEO Julie Pickens. “We are able to move quickly with new products and distribution to maximize our growth in the saline nose wipe category we created.” “Our sales have been fueled tremendously by the internet and word-of-mouth marketing,” added CMO Mindee Doney. “Being a start-up, we have not been able to afford the big marketing campaigns the larger companies can, so we have had to rely a lot on a quality product and our unique branding. Our retailers have been extremely supportive of this strategy and are very pleased with the results.”

The Boogie Moms®, as Doney and Pickens are sometimes called, will release their first book this summer;: The Business Behind the Boogie - How the Highs and Lows of Motherhood Made us Millions in the Booger Business (Wyatt-Mackenzie, June 2010). They continue to inspire other women in business through their blog www.thebusinessofbeingamom.com and frequent speaking engagements.

“It’s really remarkable that these two moms are still the ones running the business and fueling this growth. I’m not sure a company started from a mom invention like this has ever seen this kind of success,” said Maria Bailey CEO of BSM Media and author Trillion Dollar Moms. “It just goes to show what moms can accomplish with the right set of skills, surroundings and intuition.”

Often referred to as The Boogie Moms®, friends Mindee Doney and Julie Pickens developed the first ever saline nose wipe called Boogie Wipes® as a solution for their kids’ sore, red, runny noses. Using the idea, their business backgrounds and mompreneurialspirit they formed Little Busy Bodies, Inc in May, 2007. After an intensive research and development process, hiring a chemist, surveying consumers and interviewing manufacturers, in December, 2007 they sold their first pack of Boogie Wipes. Sales went on to reach $1 Million their first year of business. Little Busy Bodies now operates out of Beaverton, OR and employs 12 full-time employees (9 moms) including Julie as CEO and Mindee as CMO. The company tripled their revenue in 2009 at $3.4 Million. They now offer 11 saline nose wipe products to 50,000 retail stores across the US and Canada including; Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens & Toys”R”Us.
