April 23, 2010 - PRLog -- So, why choose a career as a driving instructor?

•  Job Satisfaction – being a driving instructor will give you such job satisfaction because you know that you are teaching people a skill for life.  When your pupils pass their test, it provides you with satisfaction and gives you great pride in your job!

•  Flexibility – as a driving instructor you will have the freedom to choose your working hours and the location of your work.  This will enable you to achieve a good work/life balance.

•  Being your own boss – as with the flexibility, you will have the opportunity to choose when and where you work, hence being your own boss!

•  Good income – there is a potential for you to earn hundreds of pounds per week, the amount you earn depends on the number of hours you wish to work.

•  Job Security – every year hundreds of pupils leave school and 90% of these pupils will be looking to learn to drive.  There will never be a shortage of work for driving instructors!

You do not need any previous qualifications in order to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).  All you need is the following:

•  To have held a full UK car driving licence for at least 4 years out of the last 6 years (you must not have been disqualified from driving during the last 4 years)

•  To be a “fit and proper” person, in the opinion of the DSA

•  The ability to read a vehicle number plate from at least 90 feet/27.5 metres

•  You must have a criminal record and motoring record check carried out.

•  You are required to pass the Approved Driving Instructors exam.  This is made up of one theory exam and two practical exams.

In order to ensure you successfully pass all 3 parts of the Approved Driving Instructors exam, it is important to take part in the Approved Driving Instructors Training Course.

Why not contact us at Just Instructor Training for more information on our ADI Courses.  Visit us at http://www.justinstructortraining.co.uk

Just Instructor Training also run regular information sessions at our offices in Leeds, West Yorkshire for anyone looking to become a driving instructor.  Please feel free to contact us on the following e-mail address to find out more about these sessions: http://emma@justinstructortraining.co.uk

On successful completion of all three exams, you will be graded on the following scale:

•   Grade 4 (competent)
•   Grade 5 (good)
•   Grade 6 (very high standard)

Your name will then be entered onto the Register of Approved Driving Instructors.  On payment of your registration fee you will receive your “green badge”.  This must always be displayed when giving lessons for reward.  Your registration will last for 4 years and you are able to renew on payment of a fee, however, your continued fitness and ability to instruct is constantly monitored.  Failure of any of the standards could ultimately result in you been removed from the register.
