April 23, 2010 - PRLog -- At the ‘Successful Partnership in FM’ conference, held at Wembley Stadium, London, 23rd April 2010, EMCOR Group (UK) plc will be discussing the benefits of adopting the policies and principles of partnering and alliance management. EMCOR Group (UK) will be presenting ‘A Practical Example of PAS 11000 in FM’ at the Conference.

EMCOR Group (UK), a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. , a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, with estimated 2010 revenues of $5.0 billion, employing 25,000 people, last month became one of the first five companies to receive a new BSI certification--PAS 11000--recognising its leading role in partnering and alliance management.

PAS 11000 is the world’s first collaborative relationship standard and provides a multi-stage approach to help organisations work together. The framework enables an organisation of any size and sector to apply good partnering practice and manage valuable business relationships. PAS 11000 is already being adopted by Government departments as the foundation for its collaborative relationships. PAS 11000 arose from an initiative by Partnership Sourcing Ltd (PSL) – itself a joint initiative between the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and employer body, the Confederation of Business Industry (CBI). EMCOR UK is a member of PSL’s executive partnering knowledge network.

Presenting ‘A Practical Example of PAS 11000 in FM’ at the Conference will be Jeremy Campbell, Account Director at EMCOR UK. Jeremy Campbell commented: “EMCOR has an industry leading track record in building successful, long-term collaborative relationships. At the conference, our theme will rest around the positive learning experiences of applying the PAS 11000 specification; the barriers we had to overcome, and how we did this; interpreting the PAS, and preparing our business for assessment; the benefits of the PAS to the wider business community, and the excellent relationships we've built up with PSL and BSI.

“We'll also focus on how EMCOR has developed joint collaborative working relationships with our clients, how we developed a shared business plan and value creation strategy and how we've implemented a lean culture in partnership with our client, BAE Systems,” added Mr. Campbell.

Les Pyle, PSL’s CEO, commented: “It’s encouraging to see EMCOR Group (UK) taking a lead in promoting partnering and alliance management – and in submitting its collaborative working practices to independent assessment and certification.

“The PAS 11000 standard will be a single definition of best practice collaborative working and will provide formal recognition for companies which place significant emphasis on partnering,” he continued. “It will also allow businesses to standardise partnering across their organisations, ensuring a consistent approach and establishing processes to ensure that collaborative relationships are effective and optimised. “Collaborative business relationships have been shown to deliver a wide range of benefits, which enhance competitiveness and performance while adding value to organisations of all sizes,” Mr. Pyle added.
PSL’s Director of Operations, David Hawkins, explained: “The publication of a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) is a step towards the establishment of a full British Standard. The first standard in the world to address collaborative business relationships, PAS 11000 provides a consistent framework, which can be scaled and adapted to meet particular business needs.”

The corporate certification programme, launched in 2009, establishes a measurable independent assessment by BSI that creates an internal benchmark for continuous improvement and people development, together with validated, pan-industry recognition of an organisation’s collaborative profile. BSI is now progressing the evolution to BS 11000, scheduled for publication later this year.

“This reflects the growing focus on the value of collaborative business relationships and another first for UK industry,” said Mr. Pyle.

Some 22 organisations are currently in the process of achieving PAS 11000 certification.
