Denver, Colorado - Denver hosting and colocation provider, PeakColo, announced the addition of a new dark fiber ring connecting their two data centers. The dark fiber ring will extend Peak Colo’s 100GB of peering across all seven Tier 1 ISPs to both their 15th Street and Pearl Street locations. Using dark fiber is the latest way in which PeakColo has increased service levels without raising costs for Denver hosting and Denver colocation customers.
“There are many advantages to using ring-based architecture,”
Demand for dark fiber has risen with the demand for high capacity networks. Many different applications need higher capacity including VoIP, video conferencing, media streaming, check imaging and card processing. Using a dark fiber ring gives PeakColo the ability to dramatically increase bandwidth through the use of Wavelength-division multiplexing, while maintaining or lowering bandwidth access cost.
