Mexico NAFTA Requirements Experts to Speak at International Trade Center NAFTA/FTA Training Seminar

The International Trade Center’s award winning Global Market Series-NAFTA/FTA Training now offered in webinar/seminar formats welcomes experts Brenda Cordova and Randi Waltuck to speak on NAFTA requirements specific to Mexico & Export Compliance

May 4, 2010 - PRLog -- The Global Market Series-NAFTA/FTA Certification, an award winning seven part series presented by industry experts and certified by North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition, will be available by webinar/seminar and will feature Brenda Cordova and Randi Waltuck. They will be speaking May 13th and address NAFTA Requirements into Mexico. Attendees can participate in person or via webinar.  

They will review important aspects of NAFTA specific to Mexico, Mexican customs procedures, review the marking and labeling rules in Mexico and the benefits and requirements of IMMEX Article 303 regarding maquiladoras. They will also review record-keeping requirements for Mexico.

Brenda Cordova is a Mexican attorney whose legal practice covers the areas of corporate, fiscal, customs and foreign investment laws, including NAFTA verifications audits, certificates of origin, classification rulings, export and import procedures, valuation, customs duties and fees, and international purchasing from the Mexican government.  Brenda Cordova graduated from the School of Law of the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi.  She completed the coursework requirements for an LLM degree in International Law and Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.  She served as a foreign legal consultant for a Dallas law firm and later for Integrated Trade Systems, Inc., an affiliated company of PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos) in Houston, Texas.  For three years she was the head of the Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores ("Foreign Affairs Ministry”) in Rioverde, S.L.P.  She currently works with the Dallas law firm of Braumiller Schulz, LLP, and teaches customs and international trade at the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi, in Rioverde, S.L.P.  

Randi Waltuck is the Director of Trade Compliance for ATC Technology Corporation, a provider of forward and reverse logistics in the Consumer Electronics and Automotive Industries.  Ms. Waltuck has worked in the international trade arena since 1981.  Her background includes freight forwarding and export sales and marketing, customs and export compliance in such areas as NAFTA, Temporary Duty Suspension and C-TPAT.  A recipient of numerous professional awards, Randi graduated with honors from Boston University with a degree in International Business, holds and M.B.A. in Finance from Florida Atlantic University, and has begun her pursuit of a J.D. in International Law at Duquesne University in Pittsburg, where she resided.

The International Trade Center's, award winning Global Market Series will be available by webinar/seminar the only time this spring. The course will not be offered again until December 2010.  The NAFTA and Free Trade Agreement Certification, presented by industry experts and certified by NASCO-North America's SuperCorridor Coalition can be attended online or in person. Now attendees can participate from anywhere in the world!

This seminar covers the main steps in the process of utilizing NAFTA and other Free Trade Agreements. Compliance regulation is strongly emphasized.  Topics include: how to determine if claiming NAFTA status is right for your product, how to classify your product to claim the advantages of NAFTA and other FTAs, the specific NAFTA requirements when shipping to Mexico and Canada, the benefits, details and requirements of the other eleven FTAs and pending FTAs and how to complete a NAFTA Certificate of Origin.
