Reviews Are In On New Book- La Immigrata

The early reviews are in on Featherwood Publishing's new book, La Immigrata and they are fantastic.

April 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Anna Florin, author and owner of Featherwood Publishing of South Jordan, announced today that the initial reviews are in on her new book. “La Immigrata is a superbly crafted two volume saga filled with insight, drama and life stories that will thoroughly engage the rapt attention of the reader from beginning to end” quotes The Midwest Book Review, a national review board for independently published books. It goes on to say that they “highly recommend the book, especially for community libraries.”

La Immigrata is a story of an immigrant woman coming into the Salt Lake Valley in 1912. It tells of her hardships, her trials and her successes. Twenty two million immigrants came to America between 1890 and 1924 and many of their decedents still live in Utah. Kent Powell of the Utah State Historical Society believes La Immigrata to be “a most interesting story, well written and it does a fine job of portraying the story of Annie, Joe and the immigrant experience in Utah.” He intends on donating his books to the Utah State Historical Society Library.

The story begins as Annie crosses the Atlantic and is processed through Ellis Island. She then travels for three days by train until she reaches her new home in Salt Lake. WWI, Prohibition, The Great Depression and WWII are some of the topics covered in the book, how these events affected the immigrant population and how they affected Utah in general. This is also a love story, a family saga, an inspiring story dealing with life and death issues.

“It’s exciting and rewarding to hear what others think of your work. It’s taken me over three years to put this book together and I’m thrilled to see it succeed,” Anna stated. “The two book set sells for $30, but is on sale until the end of April for only $25.
