To Build New Relationships Receives Lukewarm Reception
Melville, NY – The lure of being part of a club whose members share a Give to Get
mindset and a passion for golf along with an opportunity to network with Accountants
and Attorneys on some of Long Island’s better courses was not strong enough to entice
enough business executives to join World Golf Network’s Long Island chapter.
Where did Steven Wilson, Director of WGN’s Long Island chapter, go wrong?
After seven months of a 24/7 effort to build an organization that was to offer executives
an efficient means to build new relationships Mr. Wilson reluctantly decided to suspend
operations. “Our Swing Analysis networking events the past several months attracted a
high caliber of executives, who were intrigued by the concept of how WGN could help
them use golf to build new relationships,”
sufficient number of members in time for the inaugural golf event scheduled @ Island
Hills Golf Club, to justify going forward.”
The WGN Business Model was based on business executives’ increased reliance on
networking to build relationships coupled with the value proposition of playing private
golf clubs and having the golf and networking events arranged for them.
