By: Carolyn Frith Marketing Contact: Carolyn Frith, carolynfrith@ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LIBERTY IN HOME CARE, DEVON PA, CREDITS MEMBERSHIP IN THE MALVERN CHAPTER OF BNI, A REFERRAL GROUP, FOR HELPING THEM TO DEFY THE RECESSION AND RECORD DOUBLE TO TRIPLE-DIGIT GROWTH FROM 2008 THROUGH 2010 Devon, PA, April 21, 2010—The Great Recession officially began in December 2007. Since then, companies have reined in their expenses and watched their sales decline. However, Liberty In Home Care, in Devon, PA, has bucked the trend. They were founded in 2006 and reported their first sales in 2007. In 2008 and 2009 they achieved triple-digit, year-over-year growth. Year-to-date 2010 sales show a double-digit gain as they continue to hire an average of one new employee a week to meet demand. While there are several keys to Liberty In Home Care’s success, a cornerstone of their growth has been their commitment to building their business through referrals, and tapping into the networking system offered by Business Network International (BNI). Liberty In Home Care helps seniors remain independent in their homes by providing care for individuals for a few hours a day to around-the-clock service depending on needs. Liberty In Home Care helps with anything from activities of daily living, such as eating, mobility and bathing, to medication, monitoring, errands and transportation. Their partner in success, BNI, was founded in 1985 to help business people pass qualified referrals to each other. Currently half of Liberty In Home Care’s business results from BNI referrals. “Our business has been successful for several reasons,” says Steve Rakoczy, Chief Operating Officer, Liberty In Home Care. “First, we meet a the growing need for families to care for loved ones in their homes as they age rather than sending them to assisted living facilities. Second, we are able to provide a higher level of care because our owner is an Occupational Therapist with over 26 years of experience, and our employees are either CNA’s or Home Health Aides. And third, we recognize that the best way to grow our business is through referrals. You are not going to assign your mother’s care to someone you don’t know and trust. Because of this, we have invested the time to build our network by attending BNI meetings and meeting individually with BNI members. They know the level of care we provide, see us as a resource for their families and feel comfortable referring us to people they know.” BNI has several differences from other networking organizations. First, members must apply for membership. This enables BNI to check an individual’s background and assure high-caliber, professional members. Second, only one person from each profession can join a chapter, thus maximizing the number of referrals each person will receive. Third, members are required to attend the weekly meetings to foster continuity. Finally, all members schedule one-to-one meetings with each other to understand thoroughly each business represented, build relationships and help referrals flow easily. The Malvern Chapter of BNI meets every Tuesday at The Desmond, Great Valley for a networking meeting. Meetings are from 7:00 AM until 8:30AM.
