April 21, 2010 - PRLog -- (LOS ANGELES, CA) Justin Scot (Writer/Producer/Actor) and Jon Hill (Director/Producer) announced today that their film, THE FARM, will have its world premiere at the 15th Annual Palm Beach International Film Festival (www.pbifilmfest.org) April 22-267h, 2010, in Palm Beach, Florida. The film will be shown as part of the Festival’s Shorts Program at 8:00pm Saturday, April 24th at the Lake Worth Playhouse.

Justin Scot was motivated to write The Farm to offer a voice to the millions of men and women that have fallen victim to the worst housing crisis in America’s history. By 2011 there will be more than 11 million American’s affected by this issue.  “Each character plays a bigger role by symbolically representing major components of the housing crisis,” Scot said. Scot is pleased to be world premiering The Farm in Florida, a state whose residents have felt the pain of this problem the worst.

Justin Scot (Writer/Producer/Actor) began his career starring opposite Rick Schroder in The Lost Battalion and has recurred and guest starred on such hit TV shows as Ugly Betty, Joan of Arcadia, Third Watch, Cold Case and The Forgotten. Justin focuses his work towards material with a social or historical importance and in 2007, he co-founded The YOUnited Foundation, a non-profit focused upon using socially relevant film as an educational tool to battle apathy in America’s youth. Scot is currently producing Strain, a short film and preparing to head to Italy to AD his first feature and is writing a feature version of THE FARM.

Sam Shoemaker (Scot), a poor farmer trying to cultivate barren land, has come up empty handed and in debt to the local town banker, Mr. Drexler (Garrett M. Brown, Big Love, Sisters and Uncle Buck). With no source of income and the bank leaning to push him off his property, Sam finds himself at the end of a very short rope. Drexler, along with his son Jerusha (Dave Matos) and The Hoarse Man (Jasen Wade) drag Sam to a desolate piece of his property to teach him a lesson he will soon not forget; but as the true colors of these men are discovered, all becomes unraveled and hell breaks loose.

Jon Hill (Director) has over 10 years of experience as an award-winning commercial director and photographer. He has been honored with the Southeastern Media Award presented by the Atlanta Film Festival, won the Converse International Film Competition for his film THE LONELY RANGER, was named “Best Local Filmmaker of the Year” by Creative Loafing Magazine and his first short film, WHITE BITCH DOWN (National Best 48 hour Film Project) is currently being distributed by Independent Film Channel (IFC). He was recently chosen to direct and produce the film THE NEW GIRL for Ford Mustang/Filmaka with its trailer premiering on NBC to over 7 million viewers. Jon is currently in development on several TV projects.

Todd Kasow (Composer) composed the haunting melodies for THE FARM. His upcoming project is the Cohen Brothers’ remake of the western True Grit. Todd is an Emmy Nominated music editor and was recently honored with The Golden Porridge Award for collaborating on the Cohen Brothers last 10 films.

The Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) celebrates both the history and the future of the film industry with five days of world premieres, special events, seminars, feature, short films and documentaries and is listed as one of the top 25 film festivals in the world.
