(Washington, D.C.) April 15, 2010—As part of Earth Day celebration, FoodArts
continues to participate in Green Hour events at the Phillips Collection,
Thursdays April 15 and April 22, 2010, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Organic wines and beers will be served at the Phillips Collection’s lovely outdoor
patio. $1 of each drink will be donated towards Earth Day Network. In addition,
patrons who donate $25 or more to Earth Day Network at each event will receive
a voucher for one free drink.
“It is an honor for FoodArts to participate in this Green Hour event in conjunction
with Earth Day 2010 Sustainable Feast D.C.,” says Gene McKnight, C.E.O. for
FoodArts. “FoodArts has a mission to raise community awareness about the
environment. We are doing this in conjunction with Earth Day 2010 as an
initiative designed to encourage restaurants across the Washington, D.C. metro
area to highlight responsible decision-making when buying and serving local or
organic sustainable foods.”
Recently, FoodArts celebrated with wine, music and food at the Hapi Hapi Hour
at the Textile Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Cherry Blast event in Adam’s
Morgan. With tasty FoodArts offerings including sushi, salads and sandwiches,
Catering on the Fly by FoodArts also offered Mac and Cheese, Chicken Tacos
and Sliders via the SmartKart. Many artists were featured, like Batool al-
Shomrani, Jessica Braiterman and Asad “ULTRA” Walker.
On April 9, FoodArts offered a sushi sake bar for the Hapi Hapi Hour and
partnered up with the Pink Line Project, a catalyst for the culturally curious
encouraging emerging art collectors. “I am excited about how hundreds of people
came out for the Cherry Blast event,” says McKnight. “It was a pleasure working
with the Pink Line Project, and we hope to do more artistic events with them in
the future.”
Upcoming FoodArts events include Sunday French country brunch buffets at the
Corcoran Gallery between 11 AM and 12:30 PM. Gospel brunches will also be
starting at the Corcoran the first Sunday in June with music and a new menu.
