Vibrant colors, soft but tough fabrics and playful patterns are filling clothing racks across the country, including San Angelo, TX. Fresh, spring-beckoning fashions are accompanied by snappy rain boots, matching ankle socks and fun hats that make you smile just seeing the neighborhood kids wearing them.  But, it’s the prices on these bar-coded tags that are thrilling tens of thousands of parents across the United States and thousands of moms in the Concho Valley.
Why are the price tags on these items a fraction of what you find in department stores? Because items at Just Between Friends sales events are gently-used and RECYCLED from a previous year’s retail market. New items, and quality, gently used baby equipment, outdoor playground toys, clothing and shoes, books, DVDs, and children’s furniture are available for a fraction of the price, making next week’s sale pocketbook friendly as well as Earth friendly.
“We inspect all items at our kids’ consignment events because we know quality and style are important ,” said Sandy Jameson, owner of Just Between Friends of San Angelo, TX. “Children’s fashions do not change as quickly as adults because they are growing so quickly that most little ones grow out of outfits, shoes and other accessories long before a season ends and way before the garment has completed its wearable lifespan.”
From Gymboree and Children’s Place, to Little Tikes and Step One, to Fisher Price and Leap Frog, San Angelo’s spring/summer sales event will offer area families thousands of affordable items they need for their growing families. Moms who are interested in consigning their outgrown and unused items will make 65-70% of what their items sell for and they will have the opportunity to shop the sale before the doors are opened to the public. Volunteers, who help run every aspect of the event, shop early in exchange for their time.
Families feeling the financial crunch of the current economy are making hundreds and, many times, thousands of dollars from consigning at one or more Just Between Friends sales each season. And, all consignors receive their checks within two weeks of the end of each sales event. Garage sales are designed to sell items for the least amount possible and, many times, families do not recoup the investment they have made in their quality children’s items. Many other resale opportunities offer 50% or less to local moms for their quality items and payment may take a month or longer.
