SAN FRANCISCO, CA - On April 14, 2010, the California Supreme Court denied the petitions for review filed by two California Highway Patrol officers in the case involving their publication of graphic death scene photos of a young Nikki Catsouras, who was killed in an automobile accident in Lake Forest, California on Halloween eve, October 31, 2006. The California Supreme Court also denied the CHP’s “request for de-publication”
of the Court of Appeal’s January 29, 2010, decision in the case, meaning that the ruling remains as binding new case law throughout California. According to the Catsouras family attorney, Keith G. Bremer, Esq., the CHP and the two CHP officers have 90 days to file with the U.S. Supreme Court, but may only be heard as to their First Amendment defense.
