April 20, 2010 - PRLog -- WITH the recession still rumbling on, retailers have to make sure more than ever before that their productivity is as efficient as possible and every skill is used at its best level.

As a result, interest in performance coaching and communication training in these businesses has grown.

Staff at one of these - Marks & Spencer - have spoken highly of their experiences with one training provider, lead trainer and director, John Sammers of Fulfil, who has been involved with the company since October, and is continuing to do so owing to its positive results.

John said: “I have been told by trainees that both their professional and personal lives have changed completely now they know how, by just altering the way they use language, they perform better, influence others and achieve more.”

Design Planning Manager at M&S, Charlotte Raphael , agreed: “The training days were probably the most positive, ‘feel good’ ones I been on so far professionally. As a result, I feel more confident and I would recommend it to other businesses trying to do well in this difficult climate,” she said.

And colleague, Design and Production Planning Manager, Jane Taylor, added: “The course was an excellent tool to improve our presentation skills and performance at work and I do think it will give me the edge in my role. I also think we are all going to take home knowledge that will achieve the desired results for the business.”

Designers working in different departments and on various products throughout the company have been the beneficiaries of programmes such ‘Putting the mind to work’ and ‘Words that work’.

The aim of these was to help managers improve their communication skills when dealing with their teams and for team members to understand the crux of the process - how language is processed by the unconscious mind and how this understanding can be used to improve almost all areas of their lives – certainly at work!

John said this can increase self confidence in staff, improve their presentation skills, and allow them to be able to set and achieve clear and meaningful goals.

A trainer and certified life coach, as well as a certified master of NLP and hypnotherapy, John said that according to M&S, the benefits had far outweighed the cost.

“Successful business is primarily about successful relationships, and good relationships are maintained by good communication. Knowing how to use influential language effectively can benefit every level of an organisation from the shop floor to senior executive.

“It actually is quite staggering how much difference economically this input can make to this type of business,” he concluded.
