April 19, 2010 - PRLog -- German Specialty Chemicals Company LANXESS AG announced today it has completed another step of the technical improvement for its yellow iron oxide pigments production in Jinshan, Shanghai. The plant can now run at a full capacity of 28,000 metric tons.

Improvements in manufacturing technology have significantly increased efficiencies of the existing operation through optimizing the site facilities and by exploiting technical synergies. For example, the steam generation has been consolidated in one boiler house operation with a state-of-the-art off-gas cleaning system.

“LANXESS’s Inorganic Pigments business unit is planning to grow further, thus underlining its confidence in the business opportunities available and safeguarding its ability to meet rising market demand in China,” says Jörg Hellwig, Global Head of LANXESS Inorganic Pigments business unit.

LANXESS plans to even further optimize the environmental equipment of the plant, for example the plant sewage system will be again upgraded; the water supply and the fire fighting system will be improved to over ground piping for better availability and monitoring. The next step is scheduled for completion in 2011.

"These improvements are very important to reach the next level of production excellence here in Jinshan.” says Dr. Wolfgang Oehlert, Chairman of the Board of LANXESS Specialty Chemicals in Jinshan and head of the Asia Pacific activities of LANXESS’s Inorganic Pigments business. “The recently introduced improvements will enable us to supply the growing Chinese and global market with higher volumes of our premium quality pigments and thus profitably increase our market share.”

Opened in 2007, the Inorganic Pigments facility in Jinshan is a prime example of environmentally friendly pigments production. It is not only the largest yellow pigments production site in Asia; it is also ahead of competition in China as it is equipped with a state-of-the-art waste water treatment facility that is directly linked to an industrial water treatment plant. In 2009, LANXESS conserved over 15 percent in total emissions by applying innovative technologies in energy utilization and water management.
