“The First China ‘Silk Road’ International Tourism Festival will be jointly held by Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Ningxia, Qinghai and Gansu in October, 2010” said Wang Yucheng, Deputy Director of Xinjiang Tourism Administration. The festival is designed to further develop the tourism resources in western China.
China “Silk Road” International Tourism Festival is jointly organized by UNESCO and China National Tourism Administration and the above-mentioned provinces are the joint host of this festival. The China “Silk Road” International Tourism Festival will be held in every October since this year and the five provinces will take turns to be the host. The festival will help to display the culture of “Silk Road” in different areas of western China.
As an important commercial route in ancient China, the “Silk Road” starts from Xi’an and stretches through Tianshui, Lanzhou, Dunhuang (http://www.chinatouronline.com/
Wang Yucheng said, “After 20 years of efforts, we have made great progress in cooperating with other western provinces. We will further strengthen our cooperation and lay cooperative foundation for sustainable development in tourism.”
