Style Bar in the Carillon City and The Parlour Haute Salon in Nedlands, have joined forces to launch a campaign to bring awareness of the risks chemicals in hair dyes have on your health.  Many studies have shown that prolonged use of hair dyes are linked to higher risks and exposure to bladder cancer, acute adult leukemia and a myriad of dermatological complications from psoriasis to hives.

Most salon brands of hair dye are 100 percent synthetic and petroleum-based, these dyes are controversial oxidative dyes. Oxidative dyes have no pre-existing colours until they are combined and joined with oxidizing ingredients.  Most dyes use a synthetic to do this, but Aveda has conducted extensive research into essential oils and plant extracts, and have found and patented a process to oxidize the dye using green tea extract. Not only is the end process free of  petroleum-based chemicals, but the result is more natural looking.

The common base formulas for dyes are petrochemical solvents, and in this process Aveda has substituted protective and lubricating plant oils in the formula so that it is significantly less drying to the hair than the solvents normally used.  By switching to Aveda colour, hair becomes noticeably healthier and the added long term health benefits are substantial.

The innovative new campaign called “Cut the Chemicals”, offers the public the opportunity to have their hair coloured and should they not completely love the Aveda difference they will receive their money back.  This innovative campaign gives skeptics and colour addicts the chance to see for themselves the professional high quality salon colour that is achieved by Aveda’s Full Spectrum Hair Colour.

No other salon in Australia is so sure of its product as to guarantee fantastic results and a healthy alternative to their current colour routine.
