PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 16, 2010 - Pianist and composer Sharon Ruchman of Washington, Connecticut, (www.sharonruchman.com) will perform several of her original compositions from her recently-released CD, “Sharon Ruchman Chamber Music” featuring “Sea Glass”. Ms. Ruchman, along with cellist, Mary Costanza, also of Washington, will perform piano and cello duets during the Tuesday, April 20th “Love and Knishes” 1:00 PM concert at The Federation of Jewish Communities in Southbury, Connecticut. Ms. Ruchman released her newest CD in October of 2009, and two of her compositions, “Day at Play” and “Day’s End”, were recently featured at the 10th Annual Women Composers Festival on March 24, 2010 in West Hartford, Connecticut.

An accomplished Yale School of Music and New England Conservatory of Music graduate, Sharon Ruchman’s musical talents and composition capabilities were selected by the National Composers Association to be performed during the November 14, 2009 “Music Under the Redwoods” concert in Portola, California. A former music teacher with the West Haven, Connecticut elementary school, Ms. Ruchman graduated with her Master of Music (MM) degree from the Yale School of Music, and earned her Bachelor of Music (BM) degree at the New England Conservatory of Music.

WSHU and WMNR, Connecticut’s two notable classical music radio stations, have been airing Sharon Ruchman’s pieces from “Sharon Ruchman Chamber Music” since fall of 2009. “It has been quite rewarding,” commented Ruchman, “to share so much of my musical and composition talents with classical music artists and appreciative audiences throughout Connecticut. Since releasing my first chamber music CD in October of 2009, every month has afforded me more and more opportunities to bring my original compositions to musical arenas across Connecticut.”

All the pieces in Sharon Ruchman’s new CD were performed and produced in Connecticut’s northwest region. The Hebbard House in Washington, the Kent School Chapel in Kent, and The Dome in Southbury, were all settings where she performed and produced the CD with Gary Bertz and Wayne Hileman of Candlewood Digital LLC in Washington, Connecticut.

Brief, 10 second intervals of Sharon Ruchman’s 18 original compositions on “Sharon Ruchman Chamber Music” featuring “Sea Glass” can be heard on her website, www.sharonruchman.com. Orders for the CD can be placed on the site, and her CD will be available for purchase after the April 20th performance at The Federation in Southbury.

During the April 20th concert, Ms. Ruchman will share the stage with accomplished cellist, Mary Costanza, who is one of the performers on the new “Sharon Ruchman Chamber Music” CD. The concert will be held at The Jewish Federation of Communities located at 444 Main Street North in Southbury. Suggested donations for the “Love and Knishes” lunch program are $7.50 for adults 60 and older, $9.50 for attendees younger than age 60. The program is open to adults, and features a luncheon that begins at 12:00 noon.
