Rare Find - French Silver Wine Coaster from 19th Century - Only for the True Collector

April 15, 2010 - PRLog -- This elegant pair of French 1st standard wine coasters was made by Odiot, Paris, with the Prevost, Recipon & Cie touchmark, circa 1895. The coasters are of very heavy gauge and are pierced with four sections of open strapwork decoration, alternating with 4 solid sections: 1 acid etched with a scene of a putti riding 2 dogs, 1 acid etched with a putti riding 2 sea creatures, and 2 sections acid etched with strapwork. The interior of the coasters retains traces of original gilding. These wine coasters reflect the highest level of craftsmanship of silver made in late nineteenth century France. They are true collector’s pieces. Excellent Estate Condition. Diameter: 6 Inches. Weight: 20.6 Troy Ounces.
