New Promoter Brings Celtic Musicians to Cincinnati

April 13, 2010 - PRLog -- CINCINNATI—Cincinnati will have the opportunity to welcome traditional folk musicians and bands from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England thanks to the newly formed Reel Roots Folk Music Alliance.

“Reel Roots wants to raise local awareness and appreciation for the traditional folk music of the Celtic nations; often referred to as Celtic music,” said Kristen Kirby, owner and founder. “In addition to bringing musicians to Cincinnati for concerts and workshops, we will be publishing exclusive interviews with the artists themselves on our website.”

In the fall, Reel Roots will feature a concert with John Whelan, a world renowned accordion player and a 2009 winner of the Irish Music Association’s Irish Music Awards.

“I am looking forward to visiting Cincinnati this fall,” said Whelan, “and I’m honored to have been chosen by Reel Roots as one of their first musical guests.”

The date of the concert will be announced in April 2010 via the Reel Roots website at www.reelrootsfolkmusic.com.

In addition to bringing live folk music to Cincinnati, Reel Roots will feature exclusive artist interviews on its website.

“We’re doing this at no charge,” said Kirby. “It’s important that people have access to the musicians they love, and maybe some they don’t know very much about.”

The first artist interview is with Alyth McCormack, a prominent Scottish singer.

“Alyth is well known for her classical touch on Gaelic singing and has toured with big names such as the Chieftains and Moving Hearts,” said Kirby. “We are so proud she granted Reel Roots our exclusive interview.”
