The Spring into Summer weekend is supported by Transport for London (TfL) and includes 54 led walks along London’s seven designated strategic walking routes - the London LOOP, Capital Ring, Jubilee Walkway and Jubilee Greenway, Thames Path, Lea Valley Walk and the South East Green Chain. These routes form part of the Mayor of London’s commitment to the Great Outdoors.
All the walks have been arranged to conveniently start and end close to public transport and will be interpreted by trained guides to show off all the great spaces, tourist attractions and places of natural beauty along the way.
The weekend will include 23 free led walks in the centre of London as well as 10 ‘Walking towards the Games’, connecting London’s 2012 Games venues. Come and see for yourself how the Park is progressing.
David Rowe, Head of Borough Routes & Places at TfL said: “Taking part in Walk London’s three annual walking weekends is a great way to discover London and for people to realise just how close they are to great walking routes; we hope that these sorts of events will encourage more people to walk more often as a way to get around London.”
Jim Walker, Chair of Walk London said: “Walking is a great way to get around London and get fit at the same time. There is more than 450 miles of wonderful walking out there which is already enjoyed by nearly 3million people per year – hopefully this weekend will encourage a few more too.”

1. Walk London is a project led by the City of London involving all the relevant authorities in the Capital to develop and promote a strategic network of walking routes with the support of Transport for London.
2. The Strategic Walk Network is made up of seven long distance routes laid out in easily walkable sections:
London Loop (24 sections in total 150 miles), Capital Ring (15 sections in total 75 miles), Lea Valley (4 sections in total 13 miles),Thames Path (4 sections in total 67 miles), SE Green Chain (10 sections in total 40 miles), Jubilee Walk (3 sections in total 15 miles) Jubilee Greenway (10 sections in total 35 miles)
