This type of engine is quiet strange because it’s new. Anyway, like to say that EcoBoost is a family of turbocharged and direct injected six cylinder and four cylinder gasoline engines produced by the Ford Motor Company. It is designed to deliver power and torque consistent with larger displacement. Interestingly, it is can give approximately 20% better fuel efficiency and 15% reduced greenhouse emissions than others engine. Other words, EcoBoost can give results in a smaller engine providing the power and torque of a mush bigger one.
Now revealed that EcoBoost engine will be available in the C-Max, F-150 and next generation Explorer. Depending on which type of car, the C-Max would be equipped with a 1.6 liter, Explorer will get 2.0 liter and F-150 will receive 3.5 liter V6. EcoBoost also is available now in the Ford Flex and Taurus and Lincoln MKS and MKT. Imaging that, By 2013 Ford expects to be producing approximately 1.5 million EcoBoost engines globally, about 200,000 more than originally expected.
EcoBoost engine is not like any hybrid cars that are using engine plus battery lithium. It is similar any other standard engine, but their engineer have made tuning to give performance same as like big engine. It shows that some automakers still not ready to perform zero emission cars like electric car or what ever. Maybe just wanna having all people in this world using electric cars are just dreaming if gasoline still can make money.
