Australian Casey Stoner disappointed fans and himself when he crashed during the sixth lap of the Moto GP at the weekend.
Stoner had started from pole position in the race, and quickly established a comfortable lead, but made a stupid error - by his own admission - and was out of the race.
It was a major blow for Stoner who had returned to great form this year by dominating practice and qualifying after last year’s campaign was marred by a mystery illness.
The reigning world champion Valentino Rossi took full advantage of Stoner’s bad luck to claim the win ahead of Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo and Honda’s Andrew Dovizioso.
Stoner remained positive though saying he hoped he would reverse last year’s fortunes where he had started out well and ended badly!
