Forrest Fest 2010: Poetry in the Park at Lamesa, Texas

April 30 and May 1 Forrest Fest 2010 will celebrate its tenth anniversary. Poets Larry Thomas, Thom the World Poet, Texas Poet Laureate Karla Morton will perform. Cowboy poetry workshops and womens workshops are scheduled. There will be a noon BBQ.

April 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Forrest Fest 2010 is scheduled for April 30 and May 1 in Lamesa, Texas at Forrest Park community center.  Friday evening activities include an open mic will begin at 7pm and Poetry slam is scheduled from 8pm to 10pm. First Place winner will receive $100.00.   Workshops scheduled for Saturday morning which include Lassos & Lariats cowboy poetry workshop and readings at the Dal Paso Museum from 10pm to 12pm and Images of Women at the Dawson County Public Library at 8am.  A noon BBQ will feature Karla Morton, Texas Poet Laureate 2010 with proceeds from donations going to relay for life.  Roan Inish, Celtic music group will perform at 2pm in the park with open mic readings ongoing through Saturday.  Saturday evening featured performers such as Larry Thomas, 2008 Texas Poet Laureate, Dr. Chris Ellery, Angelo State University, Stella Brice, Houston, Texas; Bob Mudd, Australia; and acoustic guitarist Zach Harmon, Abilene, Texas  performing.   MCs for the events include Thom Moon Bird, Austin, Texas and Michael Guinn of Ft. Worth.
