By: Sarah Vanstone The grounds also include three ponds, a meadow, an orchard and a separate private island accessible only by boat. Happily the house comes equipped with a punt (and a book on technique) and a two-person canoe, as well as a selection of bicycles for land-based pursuits. DVD’s of the mill’s screen appearances in local screen writer David Croft’s “Wake up Walmington” episode of Dad’s Army and the 1968 Vincent Price film “The Witchfinder General” about local witch-hunter Matthew Hopkins, can be found in the mill’s film library. The mill is set on a small island between the mill pond and the River Blackbourne and the beautiful and natural surroundings offer wildlife interest, walking, bird watching, cycling, wild swimming and fishing and provide a secluded and private place for a house party or family holiday.
