April 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Having loved the warmth, friendliness and mutual support in the village where she grew up, Sharon Ivory has carved out a successful career working in similar intimate environments.

That career has now led her to her new role as the Village Manager at Elmbridge Village in Cranleigh.

“I love the sense of community you get in a village,” said Sharon, who grew up in the Lake District and now lives in Farnborough. “Neighbours know and support each other and there is genuine warmth. I found it at Elmbridge the first time I visited and it offers a wonderful atmosphere to work in.”

Sharon’s management career spans 26 years and has seen her working in residential homes, retirement villages and for domiciliary agencies, with older people, those with learning disabilities and children with special needs.

“I feel very comfortable working in all sizes of communities and this role provides the perfect opportunity to experience the very best of village life while helping the community grow,” said Sharon. “I’m looking forward to helping the staff and residents build on the wonderful community they’ve created here.”

Elmbridge Village is one of 11 age exclusive communities owned by Retirement Villages Ltd. The village has a range of one, two and three bedroom homes for the over 60s along with a range of communal facilities, set in 28 acres on the edge of Cranleigh. Sharon is heading up a team of more than 40 village support staff including administrators, domestic staff, chef and kitchen staff, and maintenance workers.

The company’s Operations Manager Malcolm Sniders said: “We are delighted to welcome Sharon to the team at Elmbridge and at Retirement Villages. Her years of experience will be invaluable in her new role heading up what was the UK’s first age exclusive village.”
