JSM Financial: Hedge fund assets to return to pre-financial crisis peak of $2 trillion by year end.

April 8, 2010 - PRLog -- JSM Financial has learned of a new survey by Credit Suisse Group Ag which indicates that global hedge fund assets are on track to regain their pre-financial crisis peak of almost $2 trillion before the end of the year, buoyed by investment profits and capital inflows.

The annual survey which polled around 600 institutional investors globally, who collectively control over $1 billion in assets or 60% of the industry total, predicted asset growth of 25% from $1.6 trillion at the close of 2009.

2009 saw the strongest annual returns for hedge funds in over a decade, helping to reverse capital outflows in the latter half of the year.

JSM Financial believes the report goes on to say that the Asia-Pacific region is expected to receive the highest attention with 61% of investors saying that they are either increasing or considering increasing their focus in that geographic arena.

“The best hedge funds have demonstrated their ability to outperform both rising and falling markets. This is attracting an ever-greater allocation of assets from investors looking for stability and growth,” JSM Financial understands a Hong Kong based Credit Suisse executive was recently quoted as saying.

Research available to JSM Financial shows that hedge fund assets reached their peak of $1.93 trillion in the first half of 2008 before the deepening credit crisis reined growth in. During the second half of the same year, hedge funds felt the largest annual loss in history, shedding a whopping 19%.
