The Glycemic Research Institute® announced on March 16, 2010 it has completed Human In Vivo Clinical Trials on Joseph’s Bakery High Fiber Plus Pita Bread. The Pita Bread passed all clinical and legal protocols as a “Low Glycemic” food for Diabetics.
The independent Board Approved clinical trials were conducted at the Glycemic Research Institute® Official Trial facility, Glycemic Research Laboratories, which is an Internationally Accredited Certifying Agent (IACA) under approval from the United States Federal government, the Canadian government, and the United Kingdom government.
Over a 25-year period, the Glycemic Research Institute® has earned an international reputation as the industry expert in today's global food, beverage, Nutraceutical, and Pharmaceutical regulatory environment, providing global Claim Substantiation and Certifications in the fields of the Glycemic Index, Diabetes, Cephalic Response, Adipose Tissue Fat-Storage, and Childhood Obesity (Kid-Friendly)
Products that are accepted into the GRI Certification Program undergo Board Approved Human In Vivo Clinical Trials. Test Foods (products) that pass the clinical protocols qualify to display the GRI Government Certification Marks on products labels and brochures, and to make specific claims. All Clinical Trials are based on FDA CFR21 Guidelines.
Results of the clinical trials demonstrated that, in Type 2 Diabetics, Joseph’s Bakery High Fiber Plus Pita Bread has a Glycemic Index of 46 and a Glycemic Load of 6, which qualifies as “Certified Diabetic Friendly.”
