A petroleum company powering agricultural businesses across the West Midlands is further fuelling its support for the industry having enjoyed a successful expansion into the region.
Rix Petroleum, which has traded for more than 125 years in various parts of the UK, launched its first Midlands operation just over 12 months ago.
Based in Coleshill, Warwickshire, Rix Petroleum distributes fuels, heating oils and lubricants to the homes, farms and the commercial and haulage sectors and is one of the UK’s largest independently owned oil companies.
And this year, in a further show of support for the agricultural industry, they have agreed a deal to become the main sponsor of the Kenilworth Show.
The event is one of the biggest agricultural events in the region and is being held on a 50 acre site directly opposite the National Agricultural Centre (NAC) in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire on Saturday, June 5.
General manager Paul Doherty set up Rix Petroleum’s Midlands operation having enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 20 years in the oil industry.
He said: “Having known of Rix Petroleum and their fine reputation for many years I was delighted to be given the opportunity to set-up and manage their new operation in the Midlands and we have enjoyed a tremendous first year.
“We started with just two of us in the office along with two tanker drivers but have now built the team to 11 employees. Between us we have more than 100 years experience in oil distribution throughout Warwickshire and the Midlands.”
And having enjoyed a presence at the 2009 Kenilworth Show, Rix Petroleum is looking forward to playing a bigger part in this year’s event.
Paul added: “We exhibited at last year’s show and had such a great time that we are delighted to be coming back this year as main sponsors.
“We work with a lot of land owners and farmers across Warwickshire and the Midlands and are really looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers at the show this year on June 5.”
Kenilworth Show organising committee chair Cynthia Mold added: “Rix Petroleum provides a great service to agricultural businesses across our area and we are delighted the company is supporting this year’s event which is shaping up to be a really great occasion for all the family.”
